Growing together,
Step by step.

Comprising dedicated scholars and visionaries, our team is committed to demystifying the complex world of neuroscience for the next generation.

Summer 2022

The Neuroscience Outreach Program was initiated at the Department of Neuroscience @ Baylor College of Medicine, sparked by a student-led effort. Under Dr. Jeff Yau's guidance, our first meeting laid the foundation for what was to come.

Jan 2023

We established our inaugural collaboration with DeBakey High School, setting the stage for our outreach endeavors.

Mar 2023

We announced the Neuroscience Outreach Event, calling on neuroscience graduate/MSTP students to volunteer, enriching our program with their expertise.

Aug 2023

The program welcomed new members, infusing fresh ideas and energy into our committee.

May 2025

Our third outreach event welcomed students from The Village School for the first time, marking a new chapter in our growing community engagement efforts. We’re proud to continue building bridges between young learners and the scientific world.

Monthly Progress

Over time, through regular monthly meetings, we've navigated challenges and achieved milestones, with every committee member playing a crucial role in our development.

Feb 2023

Gratitude is extended to our professors and lab members who confirmed their participation in our events, providing invaluable support.

May 2023

Our first outreach program was conducted, marking a significant achievement. The collective effort and valuable feedback from all involved made the success possible.

May 2024

Our second outreach program was conducted with the DeBakey High School for Health Professions. We are glad to see a group of young, talented students visiting BCM and exploring the beauty of science with all the dedicated scientists here in the Department of Neuroscience.

Ongoing Efforts

Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to continue growing the NEO outreach program—reaching more students, welcoming new partner schools, and deepening the impact of our educational activities.
This next phase is proudly supported by a Regional Grant from the Royal Society of Biology, empowering us to expand our efforts and bring neuroscience closer to the wider community.
As we reflect on three successful events, we remain committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young minds to experience neuroscience firsthand—one connection at a time.
